Dredd could be as violent as hell, and no one could say a thing." As Sanders put it, "The formula was simple: violence on the side of justice. This would allow the new comic to be as violent as Action had been – a comic which had generated much controversy – but without attracting criticism, because the violence would be committed by an officer of the law. Wagner, who had written a Dirty Harry-inspired tough cop called One-Eyed Jack for Valiant, saw that readers also responded to authority figures, and developed a character that took the concept to its logical extreme, imagining an ultra-violent lawman patrolling a future New York with the power to arrest, sentence, and if required execute criminals on the spot. Mills' experiences with Battle and Action in particular had taught him that readers responded to his anti-authoritarian attitudes. The original logo and overall look of the comic were designed by art assistant Doug Church. The then-futuristic name 2000 AD was chosen by John Sanders, : pp.25–26 as no-one involved expected the comic to last that long. Mills brought fellow freelancer John Wagner on board as script adviser and the pair began to develop characters. IPC publisher John Sanders asked Pat Mills, a freelance writer and editor who had created Battle Picture Weekly and Action, to develop it. In December 1975, Kelvin Gosnell, a sub-editor at IPC Magazines, read an article in the London Evening Standard about a wave of forthcoming science fiction films, and suggested that the company might get on the bandwagon by launching a science fiction comic. Fleetway continued to produce the title until 2000, when it was bought by Rebellion Developments. IPC then shifted the title to its Fleetway comics subsidiary, which was sold to Robert Maxwell in 1987 and then to Egmont UK in 1991. Other series in 2000 AD include Rogue Trooper, Sláine, Strontium Dog, ABC Warriors, Nemesis the Warlock and Nikolai Dante.Ģ000 AD was initially published by IPC Magazines. The least appealing of Young’s albums in the Harvest vein, Prairie Wind is still one of Young’s stronger latter-day albums. Perhaps he realised that the album’s initial Neil Young-as-crooner concept didn’t quite work, veering as it did between charming (the big band-fuelled I Want to Drive My Car) and schlocky (Tumbleweed). Indecision plagued Storytone, which Young released in three versions: one orchestrated, one stripped back, one with a bit of both. Storytone (2014)įork in the road … a shot from Young’s difficult 80s. The latest in a succession of middling albums with Crazy Horse, Colorado features some incendiary performances in the band’s patent ham-fisted style – there’s a moment midway through She Showed Me Love where drummer Ralph Molina appears to stop playing by mistake – but it also features some painfully on-the-nose political lyrics, and not much in the way of decent tunes. Paradox (2018)ĭarryl Hannah’s incoherent film about Young and his latest young collaborators, Promise of the Real, is an endurance test to rival 1972’s similarly aimless documentary Journey Through the Past, but the soundtrack – a patchwork of instrumental passages, outtakes and live recordings – is quite immersive and enjoyable as it drifts along, although clearly only diehard Young nuts need apply. Certainly the first album he made after Briggs’s death felt sprawling and directionless: long Crazy Horse jams alongside bootleg-quality live tracks. There is a pervasive theory that Young’s music has suffered since the death of his long-term producer, David Briggs, the one man who seemed capable of reining him in and calling out his less inspired ideas. He’s nothing if not honest, but his sales might have held up better had his later albums not sounded increasingly dashed-off, with more thought put into their messages – here about pollution and the ongoing financial crisis – than the music. “I’m a big rock star, my sales have tanked / But I still got you – thanks,” offered Young on the title track. It’s infuriating as the songs were often great, as evidenced by Prisoners of Rock and Roll, a virtual manifesto for Crazy Horse’s primitive musical approach: “We don’t wanna be good.” 39. Life (1987)Īfter hobbling Landing on Water with a cack-handed application of synths and drum machines, Young proceeded to hobble an album with his old muckers Crazy Horse in exactly the same way. You cannot fault Young’s recent work ethic, or his political commitment, but Peace Trail – his second album of 2016, partly inspired by the environmental protests at Standing Rock reservation – was a mess: sketchy songwriting, half-baked musical ideas including a burst of Auto-Tuned vocals, platitudinous lyrics. Relief arrives when Crazy Horse lumber gracelessly into view on Goin’ Home. This collaboration with Booker T and the MGs, which attracted much attention for the bellicose, post-9/11-themed Let’s Roll, is otherwise forgettable: competent, aimless mid-tempo songs low on thrills. Put on the plastic gloves and prepare the strand test mixture in the plastic bowl provided:ġ. A strand test is recommended to give you a better idea about the end results and to avoid any complications with the actual process. Highlighting and bleaching results depend on the color and condition of the hair. When desired shade is reached, take off the cap and throw away. If hair has not reached desired level, reapply mixture as before and continue processing. To do so, remove plastic cap and wipe away mixture with a damp tissue. Check strand every 10 minutes to evaluate lift. Check hair at regular intervals during the development process as timing varies according to the degree of desired lightening. The length of the timing depends on the color and condition of the hair. Use of enclosed plastic cap is recommended through the developing process. You may mask hair you don’t wish to bleach by using a highlight cap or foil. All strands should be saturated using the brush or gloved fingers to spread the mixture evenly. Using the provided brush, apply the bleach mixture evenly to hair you wish bleached. * It is important to use all the developer and mix using only the brush provided. Apply the mixture to the hair avoiding direct contact with the scalp. Mix and blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Using the provided brush, blend until all the powder is completely dissolved with no lumps. Add the full contents of the developer to the bleach powder in the plastic tub. Empty the full contents of the bleach powder into the plastic tub provided. Wearing the enclosed gloves, open the bleach plastic bag. (Take one strand of hair and follow instructions.)ġ. The higher the letter and number, the heavier your golf club will be. On the whole, there are 73 possible measurements. Alongside the character, the digit ranges from 0 to 9. The first character is an alphabet ranging from A to G and the second character is a number between 0 and 9, both inclusive. The swing weight is represented as a two-character code. Some golf club makers also make the alteration by filling various types of material inside the clubhead or different points of the shaft. This alteration can be done by changing one or more parts of the club except for the fulcrum, by applying lead tape to the club. There are four key factors that can have an impact on the swing weight of a golf club:Īltering just one of these parameters will modify the swing weight and in turn the feel of your golf club when you use it. Swing weight refers to the weight of a golf club at one-third of its top section (head) and two-thirds of its bottom section (grip).Īlthough swing weight can have a major impact on a golfer’s performance, it can’t be considered as an absolute measurement Swing weight is a common measurement in golf that indicates the overall feel of a golf clubs weight while swinging it. How to Change/Adjust Your Golf Swing Weight.Swing Weight Vs MOI (Moment of Inertia). Difference Between Shaft Weight and Swing Weight?.But don’t be afraid to try out clubs on different ends of the swing weight spectrum. There’s probably a reason you love the feel so much, and the swing weight of those clubs can be identified and matched in your new set. So, where should you start if you have no idea what swing weight you prefer? Most golfers have a favorite club, or a favorite set of irons, so when going into a fitting, make sure to bring those clubs along. That’s because swing weight is merely addressing the balance point of the club, not the actual weight of the club overall. A heavy club can have a light swing weight and vice versa. It’s important to remember that swing weight and overall weight are mutually exclusive. The heavier swing weight in the wedges and short irons can possibly help club and club face awareness for greater precision. On the other hand, some say a progressive swing weight is better, with the longer clubs having a lighter swing weight and the scoring clubs having a heavier swing weight. On one hand, some golfers/fitters prefer that each club in the set has the same swing weight to keep feel consistent. A light swing weight can prohibit the golfer from properly feeling where the head is during the swing and cause issues with squaring the face at impact, while a heavy swing weight can cause fatigue and negatively affect performance over time.Īlso, there are two schools of thought when it comes to swing weight matching throughout a set. That’s why it’s important when making any change to your club - such as adding lead tape or changing your grip style - that you keep an eye on swing weight.įinding the proper swing weight for your game is mostly preference-based, but according to Tim Briand, Senior Vice President of GOLF’s sister company True Spec Golf, issues can arise if swing weight is too light or too heavy. The scale ranges anywhere from A0 (the lightest) to G10 (the heaviest), but most men’s golf clubs fall in the range of C7 to D7. Two grams may not seem like a lot of weight, but that’s about how much weight difference is required to change one full swing weight point.Įvery aspect in the build of a golf club plays a role in that club’s swing weight, including club head weight, balance point of the shaft, shaft length, grip, and even grip color. We bought the boat, but we paid too much. We tried to wrangle on price without any real success. The best thing he had going for him was our lack of information. We went to the dealership where the sales guy held all the cards. Magazines featured articles, and had really great photo layouts, it only offered product description and the (MSRP) retail price. The only price we could find was the retail price listings or MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price). All of the product information originated from the manufactures. However the only information available at that time was sales brochures. When our family wanted to purchase our first boat we tried to find information for research.
